No.

That also goes for coach, guess, Kate spade, etc.

Sell outs.
Thanks, god I cannot stand Guess big no no. KS however also seen pretty bags but I don't buy. Whats meant by sell out?
These brands were somewhat high end and now they're available for everyone because they didn't have quality, but rather quantity. So they "sold out" to the masses.

Designer doesn't mean better all the time, but these are labeled designer and affordable to all. Doesn't mean they are worth their weight.

The MK quality is actually pretty good. I dunno, maybe they are made unethically. I just get bad juju from them. One mid-level brand I do however carry is Furla. Freaking love my little yellow metropolitan. Its the bees kneez.

Fun fact: Coach and Louis Vitton are made in the same factories...

Michae Kors is not.

Also, MAC and NYX is the same company.
M.A.C. and NYX are not produced in the same factories, despite what the online speculations say.

M.A.C. is owned by Estee Lauder.

NYX is owned by L'oreal.

They are competitors of each other, they would not produce at the same factories.

They're both at nordstrom rack now

Mac isn't really high end. It's lost its flavor

Where is lancome made? They have amazing products

M.A.C. was never meant to be high end but they were meant to be of professional use quality. They were marketed as a make up artists brand, never one of luxury.

I admit though, they did lose their flavour but they are improving again with some of their newer products.

Depending on the product, Lancôme is currently owned by L'oreal. Most of their products are produced in European countries, but some are now sadly produced in China as well.

Oh really? I didn’t realize Estée Lauder owned MAC. A MAC makeup artist told me NYX and MAC are the same so figured that was a decent source 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hah, some of those M.A.C. makeup artists switch brands like they switch their knickers.

Yes, Estée Lauder and L'oreal are the two parent companies of beauty / cosmetics. Almost everything you use, daily, in that realm are owned by these two. They are the over reigning giants, buying up everything they can.

Being part of a conglomerate doesn't entail things are made in the same place. They could just be subsidiaries doing their own thing that come together as one company for tax purposes.

They can be wholly different companies

Sure they might try to streamline things but these are units that were independent prior

It's like how Google became alphabet to own lots of diff yet similar companies
Yes, you are correct CC but in the case of the beauty industry, it is cheaper this way.

There are only a few factories, that produce en masse for big brands of a certain quality.

The beauty industry is a 'lazy' industry, they are selling packing more than anything else.

What do you think about the naked and urban decay brand?

I think naked has glorious shadows

If Urban Decay have as much variety as M.A.C. I would love them even more.

Although their quality, is a hit or miss, depending on production batches.

Urban Decay is decent, great for those who want organised palettes in the same colour schemes, for their setting sprays, their primer potion, and some of their lipstick colours.

You mean the Naked Eyeshadow range ?

My preferred palette is their Ultimate Basics. Moondust and After Dark were fun textures, but they often had a lot of fall out. Hmm, did not manage to get the Electric Palette unfortunately and the Full Spectrum Palette, was a disappointment.

For colours and quality, in regards to eye shadows I love Makeup Forever and Shu Uemura. They are my preferred choices. They blend like butter, they still have their hits and misses like any other brand but generally really good. For palettes, look into Huda Beauty and The Balm.

The Louis Vuitton x Chapman Brothers collection ... watch parts of the Zebra disappear, rubbing off with use. 😆

Nice choice though ands, it was an amusing collection.
They didn’t tell me that ffs

No wonder no one bought it

I thought it was common knowledge.

Every time they have special prints, on top of their monogram canvas. It always rubs off after continued use.

Which is why I never purchase them anymore. I love the look, but know it will start looking ridiculous after a while.

Experience, tells you that as well. 😆

It was still a fun collection, just do not expect it to look half decent if you constantly use it.

You made a great choice of choosing it nonetheless.

It was outrageously popular in Japan, everyone wanted to get a hold of a least one piece from said collection. It was in high demand, the gents especially loved it.

Hah, by then will you give it to firebunny ? 😆

Coz MK leather isnt the best. Its not a luxury brand same as coach, furla and kate spade. MK is classified as the brand that people get when they want a brand but cannot afford luxury. (I used to work in the fashion industry)
Reminds me of Prada's saffiano tbh...that price diff tho!!!
Exactly. I think overall, luxury investments that are good will be Louis Vuitton and Chanel. Hermes is too pricey. The classics of LV and Chanel never go out of style .

Burberry is also classic 👌🏼
Yes! Burberry is good. Bags, scarves. Just dont get the cap. Coz burberry caps are worn by chavs in England. I try to avoud that shit hahahaha

However, Hermès bags are workhorses. Louis Vuitton and Chanel bags if you use them often enough, throwing them about with a busy life schedule. They simply end up tattered and worn.

In my opinion the leather on Hermès bags are beautiful, the craftsmanship is superb.

Better yet if you find a vintage one, in great condition.

They last for years, and the designs are often very practical.

Hah, but I am bias. 😆

Oh bloody hell no, I have enough of the supreme collaboration and seeing other brands trying to use the same concept as well, thinking they are ground breaking. Nothing new. 😐

So difficult to purchase Hermes bags though! I heard about the horror stories. But I check them once in a while at a website for 2nd hand luxury items. Have you heard of Vestiare Collective? Its a pretty good website. And Items mostly have their authenticity card.

Hmm, they are not hard to purchase.

It depends on which design you would like, and the leather / colours / size etc.

Yes, I have heard of them but have not purchased anything from them.

What sort of horror stories ?

Take a look at Brand Off, and Komehyo if you are located in Japan. Kyoto, has a lot of second hand luxury stores. That is the place to look for extremely rare and limited edition items / orders.

Valois Vintage Paris is also great, they are located as evidently in Paris and I believe they also deliver overseas.

Birkin of course

Do you know the story? Jane Birkin the English actress who sang Je Taime with Gainsbourg ...was sitting next to Hermès chief executive Jean-Louis Dumas on a flight from Paris to London. She complained her Kelly bag was too small for everyday use. So he made a bag using her name for the publicity and her image of the gamine..

Birkin asked Hermès to stop using her name for the crocodile version due to ethical concerns.

I have a problem with most designer bags, they're ugly... especially the ones with the brand's monogram all over the bag. I can tolerate a chanel bag, I don't own one but it looks way cuter than MK and LV
Me too; I hate the big golden MK buckle or why they think that it’s cute to carry around a bag that has letters on it. It’s tacky. The purses are in the $ 100- $ 200 range, it’s a lower end brand and not a luxury brand, thus I don’t feel inspired to show off MK initials. Same with LV, and in America another popular lower end brand, Dooney and Bourke. I don’t know, I’m really particular about my handbags and it’s a turn off to carry a purse with lettering all over it.

Yes! They look unaesthetic. And it isn't even the only reason why carrying those bags is a turn off - why do we have to be typical representatives of our social class? Why be yet another woman with popular initials on her clothing and accessories? Blah, don't wanna blend in with the crowd
