Blood simple : The coens' first movie and probably their best. In fact, it seems that all the other coens movie I've seen were bloated attempts to recreate the simple perfection of this first shot.

An oldschool thriller with great ambiance and cinematography.

La La Land.

It was incredible, and I plan to watch it again.

Of course you would! Both of the leads are Scorpios... Image Not Found

Infinite, I could not get enough of the soundtrack, as well as that ending. Wonderful, and what chemistry between the two leads.

There were hints of Les Parapluies de Cherbourg and Les Demoiselles de Rochefort, laced within the story and the musical themes. It made it all the more wondrous.

John Wick: Chapter 2 - Nowhere as good as the first instalment. Terrible opening, dumb plot, stupid decisions made by the lead, repetitive action scenes, no interesting plot twists, pointless guest star appearances, and generally stale and uninspiring. Just about watchable but nothing more. 2/5

lol you just described john wick 1

The island(1980)

Starts like an enjoyable cheesy slasher movie, becomes progressively weirder and over the top stupid.

Worth watching just for the amount of 1970s drug-inspired stupidity, despite being a bit boring

Sweeney Todd:

I initially delayed watching this one, because Tim Burton's movies are interesting as little fantasy dioramas but they tend to last too long, and Johnny Depp was in his worst try-hard period at the time it was released

Finally it's a rather good surprise, the movie doesn't have the time to become boring, the songs aren't too annoying and the cruelty and darkness is rather fun. My favorite Tim Burton movie so far.

Logan:

It's a long and uninteresting conclusion to a pointless superhero saga.

This one has the good taste of being light on the CGI crap and the plot is not over the top dramatic.

The fights are gratuitously gruesome and the bad guys get comically and undeservedly ripped apart, which is an interesting artistic bias, and the only enjoyable thing in the movie.

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST 🙂 the new one !! very good, and stayed very true to the original, a few moments of over acting but only noticed by the true cynics.

'The Sixth Sense' by M. Night Shyamalan (stars Bruce Willis, Haley Joel Osment)
Beautiful, spiritual, chilling, deep...'first-rate acting, great script..i loved the mood and pace of this film; sticks in my mind; one of favorites...

I recently saw 'Jackie' with Natalie Portman as Jackie Kennedy. It takes place right after the assassination of President Kennedy and Portman is simply unbelievable in it. I am not generally a big fan of hers but do considered her a very good actress. Well she proved that even further in 'Jackie' even more so than her Oscar winning turn in "Black Swan"! A must see if for nothing else than Portman's tour de force performance and a lush, beautiful art direction.

Gardians of the galaxy 2

it was pretty good, the most interesting marvel movie so far, rather funny. The 3D effects are really well done and used intelligently.

The movie is a tad too long, but never boring.

I watched this yesterday in 3D - but it might look better in 2D. What can i say... as can be seen in the trailer - the cinematic artwork is pretty good, the acting was quite decent - while the story was kinda poor - to say the least... ?

imo

Lazy-watching the 21st century 'Karate Kid'. A black kid and his Mom find themselves in China for some reason. At one point Will Smith Jr. says "I wanna go home", Mom counters "We've got nothing left in Detroit". Guess it's easier starting over in f cking China lmao ! Whoever wrote this must have been trippin' on acid.

I know I must be missing something though.

Is it just me or is Legends of the Fall one of the most overseen films like evah? From what I've heard it flopped both commercially and critially.. which I can't grasp bc it has all the ingredients to make it the epic the filmmakers set out to do. The only thing missing in Mel Gibson's directing credit. Maybe it was just made in the wrong decade?

I never watched because it was marketed as a chick movie with brad pitt and brad pitt's hair as the main actors. I have no idea if it's good or not

Lucy

I thought it was a pretty good storyline. Scarlett Johansson is being overused right now of course just like they did Julia Roberts and Denzel but I didn't mind looking at Denzel - lol
