I guess that's why I am not sure if the text message is mean or not because I don't usually say it this way or get anything like that.

Its become better over time for me. Especially as I've worked on some personal underlying anxiety. Plus I had a habit of taking stress from other areas of my life and applying it to my love life, by making a bigger deal out of the pointless things so I can handle the more difficult ones.
