:-) It makes me wonder, though, if larger feet (compared to what is seen as normal) are better for a person given all of the strain feet take in our lifetime. I wonder if there is research on that. Logically I would think larger is indeed better, with the bone helping to support body weight more.

The other side of my family is Eastern European (Romanian and Hungarian).

Sometimes feet can narrow, if a person has bunions that shrink thanks to health improvements. Bunions aren't just caused by too tight shoes, as we're lead to believe, they are a form of arthritis. My mother has worn shoes that podiatrists consider ideal for a long time and when she improved her health, her bunions shrunk down so her feet were a bit less wide. Another friend of mine had the same thing happen, enough to go down half a shoe size (so, not because of length changing, but width).

Depends on where you live, but as a North American, I see 5'4 being right in North America for the average height for a woman.
Ideals about what is feminine or not I think can greatly influence our reaction to words used.
For example, a penpal of mine, who knows that I'm small (just under 5'1) who has never met me in person wrote that my feet must be "cute" because they must be small. When I told him the size of my feet, he thought that they were big for my height. I found myself bothered by that. It isn't true by most people's standards, AFAIK, but that wasn't what bothered me, I had to face. I don’t even know if those are real. When you have large breast that have tons of fat, how can it be correct? I had like 35% fat when I did that but my boobs are past E in size and all fat, so I think it’s skewed.
