Posted by DreamyboyYep more on the power lifting side of things. I got the point where I realized I could garner more strength by only maxing out each lift once a week (though bench is variable because pectoral muscles are a finicky muscle). That was ESPECIALLY true for deads. Before that my back was sore more often then not. Just sucks when even sitting down makes you sore. You posterior chain will thank you if do. Also deload weeks every month or two are life savers.Posted by ChuckcemNice. Your doing a bodybuilding scheme I take it? I'm currently my routinr for every day that I workout because my legs are lagging. I didn't hit them hard enough when I was doing all the compounds and my chest muscles skyrocketed in comparison to everything else. So I make sure I always squat and deadlift on my workouts. Very taxing though. My thighs, ass, and back is on fire all the time lol!! It doesn't make it any easier that my work involves stepping up so many stairs and walking back and forth for a minimum of 5 miles a day. I'm thinking about dropping the flat presses and keeping them only for a weekend so I could maintain the integrity in the strength. I'm going to switch to a bodybuilding, hypertrophy scheme after I meet my target numbers in 1 rep maxes for the squat, bench, and deadlift.Posted by aquarius_beauty

Same, I'm a 1.5 to 2 hr type of lifter. I typically go 3-4 days a week due to work. Generally back/front squats and overhead press - Monday, bench press and dips - Tuesday, deadlifts and pull ups - Thursday, bench press and dips - Friday. There's also HIIT cardio and accessory exercises thrown in, but that's the gist.
Oh I'm sure my traps and forearms would be burning after that.click to expand

Posted by DreamyboyYeah low bar recruits more from your glutes than your quads. Also effective if you have don't have as much range of motion in your hips and ankles (though working on the flexibility is a must regardless). Keeping any squat out of your knees will spare you a lot of pain later.Posted by Ram416Back squats helps develop quads, glutes, and core.Posted by ChrisIsKodakWhat kind of squats?

I've been doing some squats but I want to change it about a bit.
Front squats, more focus on quads, less on glutes. This will give you quads of the gods. Flexible wrists are important, as you keep the bar in the "power clean rack position". I feel this is the most stable position. Their is another variation to hold the bar, I believe called the "bodybuilder style " front squat.
Low bar squats, not sure about this, but I'm guessing more on glutes. Don't quote me on this.
"Assisted" Squats and other: Hack squat, leg press, Smith machine squat, Bulgarian split squats, lunges, pistol squats, weighted carry lunges for distance. I don't recommend the leg extension. Bad for the knees

Posted by aquarius_beautySimply amazing. I've now learned that I need to find a woman who can belly dance. Just going to put that down on my list of life goals.Posted by ChuckcemYes, there is Raqs Sharqi, Raqs Balladi, Turkish, Lebanese, American Cabaret, American Tribal Fusion and from those you get other subgenres.
Are you learning any style in particular? If I remember correctly there are a few right?
I learned American Cabaret which adopts style s from all over the middle east. Each midle eastern region has their own form of dance that is acceptable like for example Raqs Sharqi is more feminine and coquetish but innocent, Raqs Balladi is more conservative, Turkish is reall earth and seductive so American Cabaret adopts all of those.
But I personally love Tribal Fusion because with Tribal Fusion you incorporate ALL forms of dance into belly dance.
This is how you can tell the difference: This is Said doing a drum solo. She's a Cabaret Dancer

Posted by CaramelizedCoffeeIf we were to apply science here, I feel that if you did that enough times to get a work out, you'd actually pass out from the excess pressure from squeezing the gas in to make the peep sound.
sometimes i squeeze my ass really tight, until a small fart escapes. peep. That's how i work out my glutes

Posted by Dreamyboy5x5 185 lb front squats is no joke. I never have enough energy to go beyond 135 or 155 because I usually do them last after both high bar and low bar back. I probably should spread out my squats a bit more though in my split and see how that feels.Posted by ChuckcemHell yea I usually have 1 week for reload. My maxouts are currently once a month that I aim to do on the first week so I can readjust my weight. man I felt like dying this weekend LOL I did front squats 5x5 @185 lbs and got sore immediately 3 hours later. I was screaming as I went to sit down on the grass at a park and whenever I needed to get up, my bud had to pull me off the floor lol !! I'm not really a power lifter, more of an Olympic lifter, but wanting to strengthen my foundation. I had like a 6 year layoff :/Posted by DreamyboyYep more on the power lifting side of things. Posted by aquarius_beautyI wonder if that is a second location or where they eventually wound up moving to, either way if you've never been, you should go. I remember the food was solid at the location here. Just a fun environment. I believe the owners are Armenian, but it's a Mediterranean / Greek restaurant.Posted by ChuckcemThey actually have a spot down in Long Beach where they have belly dancers on Thursday nights, if I remember correctly. There used to be a spot here called Burger Continental years ago that featured belly dancers. It was such a fun spot. Alas they are closed now.

Posted by DreamyboySquat day is ALL of the squats...and HIIT cardio...and overhead press...and calf raises...and bicep curls...It's rough. I stopped doing leg press because I didnt like having all of the pressure from the weights on my lower back while seated. I keep it all to one day a week because of exhaustion. If I'm feeling lucky I may throw in light squats on dead day.Posted by ChuckcemDam that's so much punishment. Back/low bars and finishing the death of your legs with front squats?? Ima do it lol I need these God like quads tomorrow lmao! Your splits from squat days and deadlift days look good. 2 whole days away from each other.
