it was weird booking rooms that had smoking options.
I have a feeling visiting some places in tokyo is going to be like visting some of those out dated slot machine areas in low tier casinos in Las Vegas (cigarette smoke wise).lol
and
I don't have that much time so I won't be traveling that far. Most of the time I'm going to be in tokyo. I'm spending a day in a close prefecture to stay at an onsen resort but thats about it.

I love the Japanese attention to detail.
I want to explore more authentic / off the beaten path type of places in Tokyo but the fact that there are bars that ban foreigners for example make me slightly less enthusiastic.
I hate doing touristy things / being around a lot of tourist in general though.

I have a feeling visiting some places in tokyo is going to be like visting some of those out dated slot machine areas in low tier casinos in Las Vegas (cigarette smoke wise).lol

I don't have that much time so I won't be traveling that far. Most of the time I'm going to be in tokyo. I'm spending a day in a close prefecture to stay at an onsen resort but thats about it.
Also the tricky part is phone data. If you go to rent one, it's roughly $ 300 down payment that you get back and I believe it was $ 150 for the service. We had it for a week only lol but how the package was, was unlimited data, but the first three days are not throttled. After that, they throttle you. Like how T mobile used to do. Apparently there's alot of free WiFi hotspots for tourists, but we didn't bother
