Richard Pryor was a comedic genius who challenged all the above. He had his own comedy variety show that was so ahead of its time that it was cancelled too soon. It was before my time but I saw clip of it online recently.

I'm just starting this topic for people to put up clips of stuff from movies, tv shows, or comedy specials. Anything goes here. If you put up something controversial try to give it some context if it would help.

Feel free to put up stuff that might seem terrible when you watch it today, or shows just how "normal" has changed over the years

Bustin Loose (1981)

Joe Braxton runs into the KKK

The Richard Pryor Show - To Kill a Mockingbird (1977)

The Richard Pryor Show - Episode 1 (1977)

There's sketch her where Pryor plays the first Black President, where he addresses the issue of the lack of Black quarterbacks in the NFL at the time. Warren Moon proved a Black QB could excel in the position, but he had to Canada to play for 6 years before getting his shot at the NFL, and he would go on to make the Hall of Fame.

Eddie Murphy - Gay People - Delirious (1983)

This is a stupid topic

Did you know that most interracial crime is US on whites?

Look, I believe in the cause but I think this shit is stupid.

Do you sound smart when you listen to yourself speak out loud?

Come out to the streets and see for yourself. I ainโ€™t in denial over whatโ€™s happening right now.

You seem to be. We donโ€™t have whites being hanged still around the country. Keep your head in the sand tho or wherever it seems comfortable for you. Bc you donโ€™t make any damn sense. Especially in this thread.

Dave Chappelle has official joined the ranks of these people and even received special recognition The Mark Twain reward for this. His acceptance speech is moving and worth watching.

George Carlin falls under this category as well.

Love George Carlin.

Damn straight! Funny and at the same time scary. At first I laughed because I was like 15 years old and immature. Then it clicked in my head, these were not just jokes, and I started really thinking about what he implied. It spooked me.

To this day I have yet to see that movie in its entirety. The fragments I've seen are enough. Seems wretched.

it's pretty fucked up

The movie itself or the fact that it was partially based on the true accounts of a real life, reformed, white supremacist?

That was rhetorical, btw. It just sucks even more knowing that the film wasn't entirely exaggerated and there was an air of truth to some of what was depicted.

I read The Last of the Mohicans when I was younger. One of my favourite novels, and I love the 1992 film version. It depicts different views of Native Americans, and challenges some societal beliefs of the time (The novel was written in the 1826 ).

I wanted to mention how Native Americans were depicted in film with white actors donning makeup to darken their skin.

Rock Hudson playing a Native American chief in Winchester '73 (1950)

John Ford is considered one of America's greatest directors. Many of called him a racist and his depcition of Native Americans in his films has been criticized by many. John Wayne is said to have made many racist comments about Native Americans, but I didn't read that he acknowledged that white men stole the land.

The Searchers (1956)

John's Wayne's character in this film has a deep hatred for Native Americans. Hatred along racial lines is heavily tied to the plot.

The Outlaw Josey Wales (1976)

Lots of great scenes in this movie, with a lot of great lines. The film displays some truths as to how Indigenous people were/are treated but it always has a lot of messages of hope and respect.

@TheApparition great scene. such a shame how people get bent out of shape and try to undermine a woman for being herself, being sexy and confident, or a bit rough around the edges.

Indeed, but you have the polar opposite where they try to force and wield that into a weapon.

I think the entirety of the spectrum for a person can be dangerous depending on who you encounter in the world willing to take advantage of that. ๐Ÿ˜ง

You should definitely watch it!

Im glad I picked a scene that didn't really spoil too much. Luckily most of that clip was included in the original trailer which means I don't have to feel too bad about ruining anything for ya'. Haha.

Definitely worth a watch though. Here's a link to the movie on hd.today. Yeah, it's a third-party site, you may have to close a few pop up tabs. The movies there are good quality though and once they're going they don't bother you again.
