I've been trying to find homes for Brains and Moon since they were born, but I'm the worst cat pusher ever...

Their mom, Boots, adopted us, found a way into my attic one night in winter. I put her in the back room of the house away from the other cats (Mittens, Mindy, and Socks) and gave her some food and water and then put her back outside, but she found a way through the attic down into a utility closet, and so kept reappearing inside the house after every time I shooed her outside xD

Socks loved Boots, so she became part of the family. A month later was when I noticed how fat Boots had gotten and figured out why she wanted a warm place to stay so badly. Socks treated the litter like her own, moved the nest into each bedroom of the house for a short while. Would groom the kitties and fetch them and bring them back into the nest while Boots was getting a rest. My daughters' mother has Simba (the tabby) and Luna (the first one to be named by my daughters who had been instructed to not name any of them - so I named Brains and Moon shortly after xD).

Brains is the one with the markings that look like brain hemispheres on his head, Moon is the one with the little crescent marking on her head.

He was the only boy in the house (besides me) and got fixed very shortly after I caught him humping his mom when she went back in heat, but it was too late. She popped out another litter a few months later.

...and thus the abridged story goes of how Brains earned his nickname Oedipus in Boots.

I thought they were continuous pictures of them being kittens and growing into adulthood! I didn't realize they were all the cats you have! OMG!

I actually have a Jack Russel dog that loves chasing cats and he is not a cat liker at all. Otherwise, I would have one.

I adopted another cat late last year, so I have two cats now, but I need to get better pictures of the new cat before I post anything.

I have had 9 of these black cats. All black, short hair, triangle face - male and female - they have all had the same super sweet, very bonding personality. I almost ended up with another one but my neighbor took him. Love um.

We just adopted our kitty a month ago. I realized I don't have many good pictures of her, yet.

I have a tortoise like this one but she doesn't have the split face - she's got a huge crescent of gold under her chin so I named her sollita - little sun - my other one is black - I have always loved all black cats

She is just like that! My dad and I have noticed this about black cats we've had or known -- all similar look. We wondered if it was just coincidence.

Yes, all similar look and personality and "aura". I don't know but there has to be something with that. It isn't coincidence but what ? I've had other cats and their personalities are not the same at all. My cats names were:

Sammie - she had 3 black kittens

Syna

Tripper

Homey

Boo Boo

Luna

My neighbor took in Mogli, who was hanging around my house but I had too many animals so she took him.

My present black cat Luna is more sensitive than the others ever were. If she doesn't get her way, she gets mouthy and her tail starts twitching and gets all crooked. It's the funniest thing. I just reassure her and then she calms down.

So there really might be something to it!

I like all of the names!

That's interesting with Luna, haha. Good that she can be reassured.

How many animals do you have now?

I only have the 2 cats now - Luna and her sister Sollita - who is a tortoise poor girl. Thumper the stray comes for years to eat and talk but never touches. Once everyone eats by darkness I put up the food - otherwise the possums and raccoons finish it off.

and yes, I actually googled black cats again and re-read interesting things I had forgotten ... they are historically a "thing" although these days are not good for them because there are too many black cats left in the shelters because they are not favored in this society

guess there's just not enough of us that like them - the study says black cats are less picked/left behind in the shelters more often than any other color - I don't go by color, I go by personality and feeling

I've read that too about black cats at shelters. The theory is that it's old superstitions that are affecting people's choice, but whatever the reason is, it's ridiculous IMO.
